Uvite on Quartz
Brumado Mine, Brumado, Bahia, Brazil
5.5 x 8.0 x 5.0 cm
- ex Irv Brown Collection

A deep burgundy red uvite crystal pierces the pristine, clear 66mm quartz crystal in this dramatic piece. The main uvite crystal (2.4 cm) is twinned and doubly-terminated, showing good translucency. Several other fully or partially included red uvite crystals remain locked within their quartz chambers. Specimens with red uvite crystals of high quality are much less common than those with green crystals. Additionally, this specimen has a saturated color without the less attractive brown component frequently seen.
