Since 2012, Thomas Spann of Mineral Masterpiece has worked as a professional gem & mineral photographer, seeking to capture the “essence” of these treasures in an accurate yet artistic way.
His approach as a mineral photographer sets him apart as he strives to highlight the three-dimensional nature of each piece while also rendering colors with as much accuracy as the media allows. His background in gem & mineral sales as well as training as a Graduate Gemologist have provided him with an awareness of the subject matter and attention to aesthetics. This attention to detail virtually eliminates the need to re-shoot subjects, and consistent high quality translates to very satisfied customers.
Thomas makes his home in Northwestern Montana, but he can be found at a number of the fine mineral shows throughout the year. He and his wife, Melissa, have six kids…many of whom have begun to share the passion for minerals.
